there is a difference between a nation and a culture
there is a difference between the political actions of a state and the actions and motivations of its people
and that is what the olympics is about for me
that is why i am invested in the teams in which i am invested
and at the end of the day i will never be over 2008 because it was generalizations everywhere
and i am so mad
i knew this walking into these olympics and still i did it anyway
news flash: the cold war has ended
news flash: there is no more soviet union
news flash: chinese people (actually on occasion) love their children the same way that other people love their children
take your reductive generalizing bullshit out of your commentary please
i actually do respect you as a network
i just want you to respect me as a person
and obviously the 'me' here is being generalized
but shit still stands
disclaimer: i'm not an emotionless calculated robot
disclaimer: i am still chinese
disclaimer: china is a huge fucking country with an enormous amount of people who all have varying degrees of cultural and national pride?
just like any other country?
sometimes the people are more than their country and sometimes the country does not represent the people and that's okay
in the olympics sometimes that happens?
the olympics are bigger than this
and i love the olympics a lot and one day i hope it loves me back
