series: the hunger games otp: katniss x peeta gif set too many feelings people who don't know how to pray who construct gods and cathedrals of each other he grounds himself in her body because she's holier than he is in his own estimation because he thinks he's worse than human and unworthy of being loved and she elevates him she ignites him to react against his better instincts; he breaks things and cuts his hands and everything ruptures and that's what makes him holy to her - the idea that she can be something Good with a capital g; that she isn't just this wrecking force... trying to hold everything together and failing: a life by katniss everdeen it's kind of tautological because these idiots are a whole person as a pair and not actually whole people unto themselves people who try to masquerade as whole people for the sake of strength but aren't actually making each other holy in order to engineer self-forgiveness and their own redemption if he loses her he becomes a cold bitter shell of a person (see: cf) if she loses him it's a confirmation that she was ruthless and vindictive and awful and that he just saw it redemption and faith are wrapped entirely up in their own frail bodies until they lose that structure halfway through catching fire and have to tear the church down and rebuild it (in mj) as a monument rather than a holy site itself ugh stop
